The Clicquot firm was founded in 1772 and was taken over by Nicole-Barbe Ponsardin in 1805. The veuve Ponsardin was tragically widowed in 1805 from François Clicquot after only 7 years of marriage and her name graces every bottle of the house Champagne to this day. A remarkable woman, who due to her invention of 'remuage' played an essential role in the process of traditional method Champagne that we still see today. The Brut yellow label Champagne is the perfect expression of the house style, dominated by the firm, aromatic Pinot Noir. A blend of Chardonnay for lively elegance, Pinot Noir for structure depth and just a touch of Pinot Meunier for roundness, richness and fruit.
Pleasant goldish, yellow color, with some nice toasty, fresh aromas. Firm crispness with lemony, toasty flavors and a very full mouth feel that this wine is known for.
